study on the use of antifungal drugs (liposomal
amphotericin vs voriconazole vs caspofungin),
with the SEFC as the sponsor; the objectives of
the study can include the determination of pharmacoeconomic
factors. With regards to financing for the project,
Pfizer has offered a grant for collaboration with

Study
of NSAIDs and congestive heart failure
Some years ago,
the Hospital Clínico San Carlos
group, in collaboration with several centres in
the Madrid region, conducted a study of cases
and controls to assess the risk of heart failure
caused by the use of NSAIDs. A more ambitious
study is now being planned, including a very large
number of patients, proposing the participation
of most of the Clinical Pharmacology Units in
Spain. The project is to be financed by a research
foundation. Prof. Alfonso Moreno
will shortly be sending invitations to participate.
Task
force in collaboration with the Spanish Paediatrics Society
In relation to the new regulations
on clinical trials in paediatrics, Josep
Torrent suggests the possibility of establishing
a network of paediatric clinical trials in collaboration
with the Paediatrics Society, which is very willing
to become involved. A specific proposal will be
presented at a later date.
